Removing the Agonizing Pain
To be sure, uniqueness cannot be claimed when suffering the harsh pain that keeps sleep away and movements agonizing when awake, whatever caused by age or other reasons.
What proves unique is finding good help for such a nasty problem.
Where logic first seeks help, finds that pills that eases symptoms is what is the only offered solution when surgery is not needed.
But pills, having side-effects that threatens added problems is to me not the "help" I either seek or want.
Nasty pain though, does inspire further seeking in hope of finding something truly helpful amongst the many things and places out there that advocate helpfulness.
But what again is not unique, is in then finding out that much of what is offered is far more interested in helping slimming down a person's wallet than actually concerned with that persons well being.
So finding that someone that actually both know how and truly desires to help, becomes a hunt somewhat like looking for that needle in a haystack.
For me "finding" came through a friend's suggestion that I go see a young man (Dr. Carney) that deals with joint and muscle pain. She thought he might help me, as he had helped her, and she was right.
Michael looked for the cause of my problem and went to work on that, and despite the wear and tear he then also found, that still made the difference for me. So instead of crawling about like a cripple when I first went there, I now go dancing - no PILLS did that! And that is unique!

Hip labral tear, diagnostic skills
In the summer of 2014 I severely injured my hip and back while at work. While on route to the hospital, my coworker suggested I see Dr. Carney to help with the pain management. He also was a patient and could not say enough good things about the care he had received there. I began going to Kawartha Therapeutic Centre initially for chiropractic treatment and then adding in rehabilitative exercises. After the frustration of multiple medical specialists and imaging (including MRI) that did not seem to show any serious pathology, it was felt by the specialists that my injury was just a slow heal or possible something chronic that I was just going to have to live with. However, both Dr. Carney and Ed Hall (personal trainer) kept going back to the thought (based on Dr. Carney’s orthopedic testing) that my hip injury was a labral tear that had been missed on MRI. Thanks to Dr. Carney’s assistance and communication with my orthopedic surgeon, a second MRA was ordered, and sure enough, a labral tear was finally found. I am now going for surgery and will see Dr. Carney and Ed post-surgery for treatment and exercise rehabilitation. I continue to see Dr. Carney, who helps me immensely with the pain management and mobility. I have found Dr. Carney and his staff to be very understanding and a pleasant experience.

Diagnostic skills
My doctor referred me to Dr. Carney when I was having intense low back pain. Dr. Carney did a thorough exam on me, and became concerned that my back pain was actually from a kidney infection. So, instead of treating me, he referred me back to my doctor with a note. A urine test was ordered, and sure enough – I had a kidney infection. I was impressed that Dr. Carney chose not treat me that day, and I was impressed with his diagnosing skills. I have since gone to him for the treatment of several injuries and have 100% trust in his abilities.

Severe degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, sciatica
On September 2009 I attended the Ross Memorial Emergency for an ongoing pain in my hip. The attending physician diagnosed a sciatic nerve injury and recommended I see Dr. Michael Carney for my cure. I was very thankful I had this wonderful doctor that night.
After treatment from Dr. Carney, my low back and hip pain is gone now and my quality of life is much better.
I’ve also suffered from shoulder pain and had previously tried different types of therapy. I then had Dr. Carney treat me and he used shockwave therapy to take the pain away. I know it sounds scary, but it was a big help!
I’ve been very satisfied with Dr. Carney’s treatment. I will continue to use Dr. Carney to help remove the kinks in my “golden years” body.
The office environment is welcoming and the front desk staff is excellent.
I have and will continue to recommend this office for their services and friendly atmosphere.

His office is efficiently run and welcoming. Lindsay and the City of Kawartha Lakes are fortunate to have his professional skills available to us.

Post-surgery rehabilitation
After my knee surgery, I went to Kawartha Therapeutic Centre (upon referral from my orthopedic surgeon) to see if they could help me with pain and tightness in my leg. Dr. Carney worked out a plan for me, and with a few treatments I was walking and even running better.
Dr. Carney is now helping me with pain that I have in my shoulder. I would recommend that if you’re going around in pain, you should come to this office to get quality of life back. You’ll be glad that you did.

Degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, rotator cuff injuries
Restoring Quality of Life
I started seeing Dr. Carney in May 2005. I have degenerative disc disease in my back and have rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders. It was important for me to find someone who is not only knowledgeable, but can explain what he is treating in plain everyday language that I can clearly understand.
Michael takes an active interest in what you do, and while this obviously helps him in his diagnosis and treatment, it makes for a friendly, relaxed atmosphere as you receive your treatment.
I found my initial contact as you enter, with his receptionist to be friendly and welcoming.
Even though osteoarthritis cannot be cured, Michael’s treatments have improved my quality of life and let me do the things that I enjoy such as golfing, taking walks, and even playing badminton and pickle ball on occasion.
I would definitely recommend the services of Kawartha Therapeutic Centre to my friends and loved ones.
Thanks for taking care of my Michael.
