I am grateful and proud to be a part of a group of professionals with a common purpose to restore good health and improve the quality of life of people in my community. What a wonderful feeling it is to be able to help eliminate someone’s pain, to improve mobility and strength, and to allow a return to the things in life that they are passionate about – be it playing sports, travelling, gardening, or playing with their children.

Excellent service however, could not be possible without the support of an excellent team. Each member of our team has a vital role to play in the success of the office, and each does so with very high personal standards. The team at Kawartha Therapeutic Centre stands for integrity, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. All of us – health professionals, exercise professionals and administrative staff – strive to set and raise the bar on quality of services delivered in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Finally, let it be said that I genuinely enjoy going to work each morning. Simply put, my team members at KTC are down-to-earth, good people. They are hard-working, fun and easy to be around. Clients consistently find our office environment to be welcoming and warm, and our personnel to be sincere and compassionate. Yes, it is safe to say that I am thrilled with the character and quality of the team that we have assembled.

About Me

I am the owner and clinic director of Kawartha Therapeutic Centre. I am a chiropractor and certified strength and conditioning specialist, also offering medical acupuncture, Active Release Techniques, shockwave therapy, therapeutic laser, and custom orthotics.

My treatment goals are to not simply relieve your pain, but rather, to go further, and correct the source of dysfunction.  I am well-trained to take a thorough medical history, provide a comprehensive physical, orthopedic examination (neurological, muscular, skeletal), and then deliver sound, scientifically evidence-based solutions to help patients achieve their optimum health goals. I take a tremendous amount of pride in being able to do this well.

I am committed to lifelong learning, and passionately pursue opportunities to expand my expertise, with the goal to deliver the highest quality of advanced therapy. I am current with the latest scientific research in physical therapies, exercise sciences, and technologies.

Areas of Practice

    (Active Release Techniques)

I graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, earning a Doctor of Chiropractic designation, and from the University of Waterloo, where I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. While at the University of Waterloo, I also took advantage of an opportunity to study and practice Athletic Therapy, providing injury management for several Varsity teams including the volleyball, soccer and hockey teams. Also, during my four years of education at the University of Waterloo, I trained in acupuncture, obtaining my Diploma in Acupuncture. I later complimented this training, by studying Contemporary Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University, successfully fulfilling these additional certification requirements.

I am also a Certified Active Release Techniques provider, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S), through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (N.S.C.A). I have an extensive background in fitness, having worked in Toronto as a personal trainer and strength coach for The Sports Clubs of Canada/Bally’s Fitness, where I worked closely with, and devised customized training programs for clients with varied health goals, including weight management, conditioning for elite sports performance, post-injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, general mobility improvement and overall wellness.

I have taken continuing education courses in golf injuries and performance, pregnancy-related care, geriatric care, and high performance strength training.

In the past several years I have taken several advanced courses in Functional Anatomical Palpation Systems, successfully completing the program requirements to become a Functional Range Release Practitioner, and Functional Range Conditioning Provider. These certifications, I believe, put my skill set at the cutting edge of manual medicine.

Pursuing another passion of mine, concussion management, I have completed the requirements and testing to make myself a credentialed provider for concussion care, and Kawartha Therapeutic Centre a designated Concussion Assessment Centre.

I draw on these additional qualifications to provide patients with a truly balanced approach to care, having the expertise to combine manual medicine with advanced soft tissue techniques, acupuncture, therapeutic laser, rehabilitative exercise prescription, and practical lifestyle modification recommendations.

I am a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the Canadian Chiropractic Association.

I believe strongly in guiding and educating my patients in various aspects of health with the goal being to empower them to take an active role in controlling their present and future state of health.

Notable

Outside of my professional existence, my time is dominated by family life. I love it so much. We have a 2 year old girl, and a 7 year old boy, who provide us with so much joy.

I am a passionate enthusiast of all things sports related, hockey being my favourite past time. And yes, I bleed blue and white of Toronto. Our day will come.

When I don’t have children hanging off me, I enjoy the great outdoors as often as I can – be it hiking, running, cycling, gardening, fishing or swimming.
