Why I Work at KTC
Contact Me: Email
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been added to the team at Kawartha Therapeutic Centre as Dr. Carney’s therapeutic assistant, laser technician and shockwave technician. I was immediately welcomed by the staff and patients of KTC, and quickly became confident that I had found the atmosphere I want to pursue my career in. It is wonderful being surrounded by professionals who all share the same values and objective; to provide the best patient centerred care possible in the most welcoming, and friendly environment.
Working at KTC has provided me the opportunity to not only use and improve my therapeutic skills, but has also allowed me to meet and help some incredible individuals on their journey to optimal health and quality of life. I am blessed to say I enjoy going to work every morning, as it is most gratifying knowing I play an important role in the progression of our patient’s therapy.
About Me
I graduated with a diploma in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assisting in 2015 from Fleming College. When graduated I obtained employment working in LTC, where my main focus was providing maintenance therapy which included balance and fall prevention, ambulation training, range of motion exercises and strength exercises. While working in LTC was an amazing experience, after a year and a half I was ready to apply my skills in an area I would see optimal progression, rather than maintenance.
I feel continuing education and life-long learning to be incredibly important to one’s professional development. In 2016 I became a certified BioFlex laser therapy technician. Further, I have been trained in shockwave therapy. I look forward to continually developing my skills in other areas.
Leading a healthy and active lifestyle is an important part of my life. I enjoy daily exercise; some of my hobbies include fishing, skating, snow-shoeing, and waterskiing. Seconded by a joy of creating nutritious meals in the kitchen.
