Fascia Stretch Therapy
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Fascia (FASH-AH)?
Fascia is the connective tissue matrix of the body that envelops and supports the muscles, nerves, joints, and organs of the body.
What is Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST)?
FST is an individually customized, pain-free assisted stretching technique that improves mobility and flexibility while reducing pain and discomfort. FST uses a combination of continuous gentle movement with traction and stabilization to decompress joints while stretching restricted muscle and fascia. It sees and treats the body as an interrelated system, rather than isolated individual parts.
Who can benefit from FST?
Just about anyone! From competitive athletes to desktop warriors and everyone in between. FST’s personalized approach ensures you get the most out of each session, regardless of your level of fitness and flexibility.
How much pain should I expect during treatment?
None! A defining aspect of FST is that it is pain-free for both client, and practitioner. Ideally no one will be in pain!
Is FST covered by my insurance?
In our case, yes! Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession and assisted-stretching is within the scope of practice of Massage Therapists. So, if your benefits cover massage, they will cover FST sessions with a Registered Massage Therapist.
What should I wear to my FST appointment?
FST is performed fully clothed, so please ensure to wear comfortable, form fitting clothing with good coverage and flexibility (as if you were attending a Yoga or Pilates class).
